I saw and tried this coat on at the AllSaints store in NYC a couple months ago. It was bewitching then, and it's even more alluring now. Something about the tailoring and classical lines reminds me of McQueen's work.
I discovered this site through, of all places, Catalogs.com. It's an extraordinary site with an extraordinary story. Built from the ground up by a former ballplayer, it went bankrupt once before coming back stronger than ever. What I love most is the romance surrounding all of its pieces - from the beautiful watercolor illustrations to the story-like item descriptions. I'm so intrigued, and will likely make a first purchase soon. Hope the quality of the clothing lives up to the persona of the brand.

If it were any other artist but McQueen, I would call me crazy. But as he was one of the most revolutionary designers of our time, and I personally felt a deep affinity for the dark, elegant, poetic beauty of his work, and he's no longer with us, I'd say this trip would be justified. I can't pass up this chance to see so many groundbreaking, heartbreaking works in person, and all in one place!
I definitely got stares on the walk from the train tow ork. They also make my dress extra clingy. But the dress is one of my faves because it's so comfortable and easy to wear.

I wear this when I can't think of anything else to wear.
I guess this scarf kind of makes me look like a cowboy. Also: I love these boots.
In this case, a rather long cardigan + short shorts + chunky boots. Interesting, but perhaps more autumn than spring.
I was walking to work with my fiance and he remarked that I looked a little like Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl, what with the dominatrix-style wedges and rocker bag. All I need is a maneful of blonde hair and a ton of makeup, though the constantly annoyed look I could maybe pull off if I tried hard enough.
Not sure which look I'm channeling with this outfit. It all came about in my determination to give my closet thorough cleaning/organizing, when I came across this pretty awful light blue polo shirt from J.Crew that I've worn maybe twice in the last six years.
Ever since Miu Miu came out with their fanciful cat prints in Fall '09 (and various bloggers started sporting those pointy collars), I've been seeing tiny animal prints all over. On ModCloth alone we have this blouse, at least two pieces with miniature stallions all over them, a bug shirt, a cat top, and even a dress with red bananas on it. Well, the red bananas aren't really a part of the trend, but just thought I'd throw those in there.
Organic, curvy, and deeply beautiful. That is all.
I tried to be very good and went a good few weeks without making another ModCloth order. But I broke down recently and got a couple coats I'd been coveting, as well as some odds and ends. Put together this outfit for an easygoing weekend.
No real story here, just one of my new favorite dresses. Ah, buffalo plaid. Man, I need to so something about my hair.
Catching up with today's outfit and Friday's outfit. Firstly, a sweater dress:
And next, a Friday outfit that layers ruffles upon ruffles:
I haven't worn this blazer outside in almost ten years, and I'm pretty sure the last time I wore it was for an internship interview for Los Angeles Magazine. The guy who interviewed me, some cocky editor, was kind of a butt-face and sauntered out in jeans and generally made me feel really lame for wearing a skirt suit. I mean it was lame of me to wear a skirt suit, but he could have been a little nicer about it.
Lavender and lime green (well, I suppose this is more like chartreuse). That is all.
The weather was so nasty all day today. Luckily my rain boots kept me pretty happy despite the rain.
Playing with textures, but only on the bottom half. Haha!
The only complaint I have is that the fabric of the skirt clung ferociously to my tights, and would ride up in a kind of unflattering way. I guess I'll have to try it with high socks next time.
Hung out with Izzy and Hava, who was all dolled up for a holiday party. I on the other had was ready and rarin' for the rain.
And from Friday... channeling Michael Jackson, or Adam Ant, or Sargent Pepper...or something.
Damn I love these shoes - comfortable, sassy, and goes with everything. I also love the combination of this bolero with this tunic/dress. The tunic was one of those wonderfully rare scores at Old Navy - rather plain an neutral but beautifully versatile. It's got a great swingy comfort that makes you feel confident all day. I'm sure you'll see it in many other iterations on this here blog. And the tights, a heavy argyle knit, keeps me warm on a chilly San Francisco day.
It's the knit waistcoat, pocket watch, and blazer with suede elbow patches. Doing some catch-up and posting outfits from today and two days ago.
Another one of those pieces that just hasn't seen much wear in the last couple of years, but for no apparent reason - this jacket is actually quite wearable despite being made out of leather. It was also a steal - $150, down from $400 at the Kenneth Cole store on Union St. in Pac Heights.
Okay, I may have gone a little overboard, but a lot of things I'd been eyeing went on sale this Black Friday... and I was undecided on a couple of dresses to wear to some holiday parties, and I had to get both so I could try them on. I promise this kind of indulgence happens only once in a blue moon ;)
I knew I had to pair it with either gray or other stark neutral, and finally decide to try it tucked into a skirt. Lo and behold, it worked pretty well, sort of like an updated take on Park Avenue 'princess' style. Got lots of comments on it!
